About Us

Following successful trips during the last 6 summers, a new group of students from the Bronx Lab School will spend 8 days cycling a section of the historic Underground Railroad in Ohio in the summer of 2015.  This 280-mile bike trip will be an extraordinary opportunity for the ‘Bronx Lab Underground Railroad Riders’ to discover a significant period of our nation’s history while experiencing the joy and beauty of bicycling. The journey will foster self-discovery, teamwork and leadership, and physical fitness. It is an experience which will provide unique learning opportunities aboutour past, and insight into ourselves.

The Bronx Lab School is a small, public high school in New York City.  The mission of the school is to provide a rigorous academic program designed to prepare students for college and life.  Bronx Lab students engage in meaningful and contextual academic work, participate in a nurturing community, explore their passions, and learn to value effort as a means to success.

These young ladies and gentlemen are an inspiration and immense joy to be around. Their trip brought them to a small village in Ohio called West Jefferson. One of the stops they made for recreation was at our local pool, in which I manage. I can not speak higher of each individual that I had the pleasure to meet today. Everyone was curteous, kind, fun loving, and absolutely AMAZING!! Even though I was only able to spend a little time with them in the pool…it was a time I will never forget! Each one of them has touched my heart deeply and I’m so happy to have met them. Not only has this experience encouraged growth and development in the students…but it has reached far beyond its intentions and touched the lives of other people thier paths have crossed, including myself and my children! Thank you for the new WONDERFUL memories!
